The European Swimming Championships in Paris are ongoing, featuring eight Romanian athletes today. Patrick Dinu was the first to compete, taking part in the heats of the 50m freestyle.
Following Dinu, Alexandru Constantinescu, Tudor Iordache, and Denis Popescu will swim in the heats of the 100m backstroke after 11:00 AM. Later, Darius Coman, Robert Badea, and Matei State will compete in the 200m individual medley. This evening, Theodor Proca is scheduled to race in the finals of the 1500m freestyle at 20:20.
Update at 10:38 AM: Patrick Dinu Finishes 5th in His Heat
Patrick Dinu concluded his heat in 5th place, clocking a time of 22.55 seconds, thereby missing the chance to advance to the semifinals of the 50m freestyle.

Theodor Proca to Compete in the Finals of the 1500m Freestyle at 20:20
In his first senior European Championships, Theodor Proca achieved an exceptional performance, qualifying for the finals of the 1500m freestyle. He completed the heats with a time of 14:57.97, setting a new national record and becoming the first Romanian to swim under 15 minutes in this event. He qualified for the finals from the 8th position in the heats.
Proca’s race will be broadcast live on TVR1 and TVR Sport.
David Popovici Concludes European Championships with Two Gold Medals
David Popovici, the leading athlete of the Romanian delegation in Paris, finished the European Championships after the 200m freestyle event, where he secured the gold medal.
Earlier, he also won gold in the 100m freestyle. This year, he made history by becoming the first swimmer ever to win gold medals in both the 100m and 200m freestyle at three different European Championships.
