The head of the Ahmedabad Police, GS Malik, told the Indian news agency that a man who survived the aviation tragedy was found. It was 11th place on the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner flight that collapsed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad on the way to London, BBC and Al Jazeera reports.

“The police found a survivor in 11th place … A survivor was found at the hospital and is under treatment. I can not say anything about the number of deaths. The number of dead can increase, because the flight has collapsed in a residential area,” Malik told ANI.

According to The Guardian, the only survivor of the accident is Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a 40-year-old, a British Indian living in London and was in Ahmedabad to visit his family. He said he lived in London over the past 20 years and has traveled to India with his brother, who was also on the plane

The Indian press states that he spoke with Vishwash in the hospital. He showed his boarding book, on which his name and the number 11a.

“At 30 seconds after take -off, a loud noise was heard and then the plane crashed. It all happened so quickly,” he said, according to Hindustan Times.

He said he suffered “lesions after impact”, through bruises on his chest, eyes and feet, but that he was always lucid and conscious.

“When I woke up, there were corpses around me. I was afraid. I got to my feet and ran. They were pieces from the plane around me.

Initially, the head of the Ahmedabad police, Gyanendra Singh Malik, told the Associated Press (AP) that there are no survivors of the plane accident.

The Air India plane with 242 people on board that had taken off for a long distance flight to London collapsed near the airport in the Indian city of Ahmedabad, according to Indian officials. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner plane fell shortly after take -off over the building of a doctors.
