Donald Trump also referred to the issue of succession in Iran in an interview with ABC News. As station reporter Jonathan Karl reported, not everything in this case went according to the American plan.

“President Trump told me this evening that the United States had identified potential candidates to take power in Iran, but they were killed in the first attack,” Karl reported.

“'The attack was so effective that it eliminated most of the candidates,' Trump told me. 'It won't be anyone we thought because they're all dead. Candidates two and three are dead,' he added, describing the conversation with the US president.
