Diplomat Adrian Zuckerman, former ambassador of the United States of America in Bucharest, believes that “he must go forward” with the reforms initiated by Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. Zuckerman said, at Digi24, that the political situation of Romania caused some foreign companies to postpone their investment projects.
“” I know big companies that wanted to get here and stopped seeing how things are revealed. But I want to ask the people from all the coalition parties: maybe Mr. Bolojan made mistakes, but you have to go here. You don't have to try to take it down after the day, you have to go to Romania. Now it is in triple B minus, which is a level above Junk, if it is Junk, the borrowing rate is doubled, if not more, plus many financial institutions, I do not allow it to buy so debts, of triple B minus.
He claimed that Romania needs the development of the economy, including by exploiting the natural resources that the country has.
“We have to let go of me. Romania is very rich: copper, gold, rare lands, all kinds of things. We have to let go of gas and oil, the reserves in the Black Sea are the largest in Europe, because these in Norway have decreased. And it is only in the Black Sea, only a company that extracts gas now.
Zuckerman claims that Romania still has “vestiges” from the time of communism, showing that among them are state -owned companies, many of whom do not make a profit.
“I have said since I was an ambassador that the Revolution was not over, there were remains from the Communists, like 1,400 state companies. Less than 10 have a profit at the end of the year. Why? These have to be closed, sold, cut the money that is given.”, Adrian Zuckerman said.
He claimed that Transelectrica, although he makes a profit, is vulnerability to Romania. “Transelectrica makes a profit. But it is a danger to national security, because over 80% of Transelectrica's equipment are from the 60s or 70s, transformers, pipes. People who lead them are put there by PSD, political, have no experience and, if sneezes next to something, the whole system has collapsed, it is a misfortune.”
