Ukrainian Medical Director’s Wealth Under Scrutiny Amid Luxury Purchases

The National Anti-Corruption Agency (NACP) of Ukraine has launched an investigation into the assets of Georgij Mankowski, who was appointed director of the National Scientific-Practical Center for Children’s Cardiology and Heart Surgery in January 2026. His wealth, which includes luxury vehicles and high-end watches, has raised eyebrows among oversight organizations.

The NGO “Stop Corruption” prompted the investigation by appealing to the NACP, as well as notifying the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). They expressed concerns that Mankowski’s assets indicate possible illegal enrichment. After reviewing his financial disclosures, the NACP partially dismissed the risk but left the matter open for further scrutiny, as reported by “Stop Corruption” on their website.

Following Mankowski’s appointment, media attention intensified due to his reported real estate holdings valued at approximately 30 million hryvnias (around 2.5 million PLN) and four premium vehicles acquired during the ongoing conflict.

Luxury Vehicles and Timepieces

Analysts from “Stop Corruption” disclosed three financial statements from Mankowski—dated December 2025, January 2026, and an updated annual declaration filed on March 20, 2026.

According to these disclosures, Mankowski’s wealth includes multiple apartments, a vacation home, four plots of land, and four Mercedes-Benz vehicles, all purchased in 2024. Also listed are luxurious watches from brands like Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Rolex, and Cartier, with the total value of his vehicles exceeding 23 million hryvnias (nearly 2 million PLN).

Further scrutiny has surrounded Mankowski’s previous ties to the private company Cardio League, of which he was a founder. However, it was revealed that he withdrew from the company on December 30, 2025, thus holding no corporate rights at the time of his appointment.

While Mankowski’s declared salary is reported to be 987,117 hryvnias annually, a significant portion of the family’s income, according to the declarations, comes from the business activities of his wife.

Following a preliminary analysis of Mankowski’s assets and financial statements, the NACP stated that no irregularities were found. However, this does not signify the conclusion of the investigation into Mankowski’s integrity, as the NACP noted that a complete verification may be conducted pending additional information.
