The right to free treatment may end. NFZ translates

ZUS benefits are not only financial or institutional support, but also the possibility of treatment at the NFZ and discounts in pharmacies. Not everyone remembers that there are situations in which both intangible ZUS benefits expire.

Free NFZ treatment and discounts on medicines in pharmacies result from regular health insurance pay. This can be done by employers or self -employed who should pay the appropriate contribution to the system every month.
As Rynekzdrowia.pl reminds, 30 days after the termination of the employment relationship (e.g. under an employment contract), the right to health services financed by the National Health Fund ceases. This may mean a lot of trouble, especially if the period of work changes is stretched or the search for new employment is unexpectedly long.
When does the right to free treatment at the National Health Fund and discounts at the pharmacy expire? Three situations
As the National Health Fund explains, the right to healthcare services financed from public funds stops 30 days from the date of expiry of the health insurance obligation, e.g.
- in the event of a termination of the employment relationship – for example under an employment contract;
- in the event of completing non -agricultural business activity;
- in the case of employed people who are on unpaid leave.

Importantly, the loss of the right to free treatment and discounts in pharmacies is not an irreversible situation. NFZ reminds you that it can be obtained from another title. There are several options for that.
The National Health Fund in the information on the website suggests that “you should get another title for insurance, e.g. insure yourself voluntarily or be submitted as a family member.” Otherwise, a person may incur health services provided.
