Although Ion Iliescu did not like football, FRF marks his disappearance. The Romanian matches will contain official moments

On a national day of national mourning decreed by the authorities after the death of Ion Iliescu (95 years), the first president of post-communist Romania, Romanian football has, on Thursday night, a meeting with Western football, on the occasion of matches in the European Cups.

However, on Wednesday and Thursday, parties are scheduled in the Romanian Football Cup. Ion Iliescu acknowledged that he didn't like football.

The Romanian Football Federation announced that before the matches in the second round of the Romanian Cup, scheduled on August 6 and 7, moments of silence will be held in the memory of Ion Iliescu, the first president of Romania after the Revolution.

FRF announced that on Wednesdays and Thursdays will take place in memory of the first president of post-December Romania.

It is a decision taken also in the context in which the Government declared August 7 as a national mourning day, in memory of the one who was head of state between 1990 and 1996, then between 2000 and 2004.

Ion Iliescu, 95, died on Tuesday, in a reserve of the SRI Hospital in Bucharest.
