Mihai Stoica, an official from FCSB, confirmed that the highly anticipated derby against Dinamo will not be hosted at the National Arena as previously speculated. The country’s largest stadium is currently unavailable due to non-sporting events.
The National Arena recently hosted concerts by artists including Metallica, Max Korzh, and Iron Maiden. Additionally, the SAGA Festival is scheduled to take place from August 21-23.
MM Stoica: “The Match Will Be at Arcul de Triumf”
According to Stoica, the derby between Dinamo and FCSB is set to occur at Arcul de Triumf stadium instead. He addressed the condition of the pitches in Bucharest, explaining why FCSB opted out of playing at Ghencea for their match against Farul.
“If the National Arena’s pitch was a 9 out of 10, last night it was rated around 6.5, maybe 6. Meanwhile, Ghencea’s pitch is at 0 out of 10. It’s simply unplayable,” he stated.
Stoica added, “I wasn’t overly assertive. I heard Daniel Oprița mention the pitch condition, but you cannot pay to play on a surface that is completely impractical.”
“From the information I have, everyone assumed that Dinamo-FCSB would be played at the National Arena, but I can confirm it will not. It will take place at Arc,” he asserted during the “Fotbal Show” on Prima Sport.
Should this information be accurate, the derby is expected on September 6, coinciding with the rematch of the Conference League final, which FCSB won 2-1 against Dinamo on May 29.
