The French football club Paris Saint-Germain has selected two locations outside the Capital to build its future stadium. PSG's Qatari patrons wish their own stadiumhowever, the City Hall refuses to sell Parc des Princes, with a capacity of 48,000 seats, which the team has been using since 1972.

“The title conquered by Paris Saint-Germain represents a milestone in the development of the club. In order to remain competitive at the highest level, strengthen the long-term commercial plan and receive numerous new supporters in the best possible conditions, the club must purchase a stadium that corresponds to its ambitions.

This is a fundamental condition for PSG to maintain its long -term growth, ”said the Parisian club, quoted by PA, according to Sport.Aaktuality.sk.

Currently the club focuses on two locations for the new stadium: Massy, south of Paris, and Poissy, 25 kilometers west of the capital. There, PSG inaugurated last year and the new training center.

“We will carry out additional studies to evaluate more precisely the feasibility and construction of such an ambitious and significant project for our club and fans. At this stage, no location is favored,” added PSG.

The club invested last year over 85 million euros in the maintenance of Parc des Princes and was determined to spend another 500 million for renovation.

The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, told the victory in the final of the Champions League against Inter Milan, score 5-0, that it is open to the reconstruction works to increase the stadium's capacity. At the same time, it opposes its sale.

PSG's new stadium would have 90,000 seats, almost double compared to Park des Princes.

The stadium that PSG plays now has a capacity of 48,583 seats. Nasser's initial plan of Khelaifi, the president of the Parisian team, was to buy Parc des Princes and to modernize it. It would have been able to have an increased capacity, at 60,000 seats.

But the negotiations with the Paris City Hall were cumbersome and eventually failed. It was discussed from 2023 about the purchase of Parc des Princes by PSG.
