The funerals of the supreme leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, postponed for the end of June-beginning of July
The funerals of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, killed by Israeli-American strikes on the first day of the war, on February 28, have been “postponed” to the end of June or the beginning of July, the mayor of Tehran, Alireza Zakani, indicated on Thursday.

The national funerals will take place between June 26 and July 5, in the month of Muharram of the Muslim calendar, the mayor estimates, quoted by the Iranian agency Fars.
Ali Khamenei, who led the Islamic Republic for almost 37 years, died at the age of 86 during the bombing of his residence in the center of Tehran, according to Agerpres.
The national funerals originally planned for March 4 had been postponed because of the war.
Iran had recently mentioned mid-June for the national funeral which is expected to last three days in Tehran, as well as in the holy cities of Qom and Mashhad (northeast), where Khamenei will be buried.
Ali Khamenei's son, Mojtaba, succeeded him in early March, but has not appeared in public since: injured in an airstrike, he expresses himself exclusively through written messages.
