In Yekaterinburg, they began installing a monument to director Alexei Balabanov. A bronze carriage weighing more than 10 tons was brought to the Youth Palace on a trawl, which will become part of the composition, reports the Ural Meridian news agency, citing the press service of the mayor's office.
Other details will be delivered in the near future: the director’s figure itself, weighing 300 kilograms, and a typewriter. Now specialists are fixing the car on a concrete base and supplying electricity – the tram's headlights will glow. Then granite and bronze false rails on a metal frame will be laid underneath, connected to the existing tracks. The official opening of the monument is scheduled for June 16.
The decision to perpetuate Balabanov’s memory was made in August last year. The idea was supported by Mayor Alexey Orlov. The director of the foundry, Dmitry Brezgin, called working on the monument a great honor, because the director has always supported Ural actors and musicians.
Let us add that Alexey Balabanov was born in Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg) in 1959.
