Krasnoyarsk residents were reminded of the importance of vitamin B1

2 June 18:20

Rospotrebnadzor specialists reminded Krasnoyarsk residents of the important role of vitamin B1 (thiamine) in the functioning of the body. It is involved in the metabolism of glucose, amino acids and fats, helping to convert food into energy.

The body's reserves of thiamine are small, so it must be supplied regularly through food. Daily requirements vary by age and gender, but the average adult needs 1.1–1.2 mg of vitamin B1 per day.

Experts say that with a balanced diet, most people get enough thiamine. It is found in whole wheat bread, oatmeal and breakfast cereals, whole grain pasta, egg noodles, brown and white long grain rice, pork and beef, trout and tuna, black beans, corn, sunflower seeds, nuts, and freshly squeezed orange juice.

A lack of vitamin B1 may be indicated by weakness, loss of appetite, memory loss, heart problems, and tingling in the arms and legs.

Rospotrebnadzor emphasized that before starting to take vitamin supplements, it is necessary to consult a doctor.
