No nibbled leaves: slugs will disappear as if by a wave of a magic wand – without chemicals or manual collection

If you see gnawed edges of cabbage, it means that slugs have chosen your area. They are usually active at night and in the evening, and during the day they hide under boards and in mulch. Agronomist scientist Nikolai Vladimirovich Khromov told how to remove uninvited guests and prevent their appearance in the future.

How to get rid of slugs

First of all, prepare a spicy infusion. Mix 200 g of plant materials (wormwood, onion, garlic) in a bucket of water and leave to steep for a day. Then spray the cabbage with a spray bottle. Repeat the procedure every 5 days, and if it rains, then immediately after it, unscheduled.

At the same time, place traps and barriers on the cabbage beds. Crushed eggshells, sawdust, pine needles and ash are suitable for this. These substances will injure the tender abdomen of the slugs, and they will leave your area en masse.

By the way, you can plant garlic or marigolds around the cabbage bed – their smell will repel pests.

How to prevent slugs

Slugs often gather in the same beds, so crop rotation is a must.

Keep the beds perfectly clean. Remove everything that could serve as a hiding place for slugs: last year's leaves, old bricks and other debris.

Water your garden beds early in the morning. They will dry out within a day: slugs do not like low humidity.

And if you attract hedgehogs, lizards or frogs to the area, they themselves will destroy all the slugs – you don’t even have to do anything for this.
