Why didn't Roberta Metsola, the president of the European Parliament, come to Romania on May 9: “We were informed as such”

The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, was informed by President Nicusor Dan of the political crisis in Romania during the Summit of the European Political Community, which took place on May 4, in Yerevan (Armenia), in a context in which the visit of the head of the European Legislature was postponed, official sources, quoted by Agerpres, said on Monday.
“The Romanian authorities canceled the event on May 9 in which the president was supposed to participate. We were informed as such and thus the visit will be postponed for another occasion”, according to clarifications from the press service of the European Parliament sent last week.
On May 9, a Europe Day reception was to be organized at the Cotroceni Palace, but the event was canceled because the Romanian head of state considered that, in the current context, the event would be “totally inappropriate”, the same sources show.
The event was thus canceled considering the developments on the domestic political scene generated by the adoption of the censure motion in Parliament.
“This decision was taken in consideration of the current political context and recent developments, which require the total concentration of institutional efforts towards the identification of solutions for the management of the current situation”, the Presidential Administration sent last week.
