What did Nikita Bier accuse the European Commission of?

Shortly after Musk retweeted the controversial post, the media reported that X had blocked the European Commission from buying and tracking ads.

Nikita Bier, head of the X products department, announced the blockade and blamed the EC violation of platform rules. According to Bier, the European Commission exploited a loophole in the sponsored content system to post a video that was actually a link to an external EU website.

The mentioned EC entry was actually a 40-second video which, when clicked, directed to the Commission's website with information about the fine imposed on the platform. According to Bier, the EC wanted to artificially increase the reach of its message, thus violating the website's rules.

Elon Musk compared the European Union to the Third Reich

This controversial entry is part of a broader anti-EU campaign conducted by Musk on his own X account. The owner of the platform calls for the dissolution of the community and tries to promote the slogan “AbolishTheUE”.

The direct cause of Musk's sharp reaction is the gigantic fine imposed on Platform X by the European Commission. In early December, X (formerly Twitter) was fined an amount 120 million euros. This was the culmination of two years of proceedings, which showed that X was using practices that misled users.

The main problem for the EU is the blue verification symbol system. While in the past this symbol meant that a verified person was behind a given account, now it can simply be purchased.
