Thuja is brighter than emerald: how to instantly reduce yellowness – recommendations from a florist

Just because you plant beautiful evergreens doesn't mean they'll always be emerald green. Often after winter you can see how thujas, junipers and even spruces have turned yellow. But this problem can be easily dealt with, as the author of the Zen channel “Anton the Flower Man” spoke about.

In total, there are 2 main reasons for the yellowing of thuja – lack of moisture and sunburn.

Lack of moisture

A lack of moisture occurs if the weather has warmed up and the soil has not yet melted, as a result of which the roots continue to be dormant. The solution is simple: spray the thuja with an anti-stress drug and wait until the soil warms up.

The author does not recommend watering thujas with warm water. Together with melt water, this can lead to stagnation of water in the roots.

In addition, a lack of moisture often indicates poor survival of the thuja – for example, you planted it too early or poorly watered it.

Important! Yellowing of the thuja from the inside is normal. Clean it out and trim the outside branches short.

Sunburn

People often wrap thujas against spring burns with airtight material, which does not remove moisture well and forms condensation. This leads to damping off. Therefore, cover the thuja from burns on a frame that does not touch its branches.

Another mistake is not to remove the covering material even when it warms up. The thuya under such a blanket is hot because of the bright sun, and it begins to dry out.

Thus, in order to reduce yellowness, it is important to understand its cause – lack of moisture or sunburn. Based on this, you can draw up a plan for resuscitating the thuja.

And don’t forget about fertilizing: add specialized compounds for conifers to the soil. Then the roots will produce their own nutrients.
