A large-scale street exhibition dedicated to Victory Day opened on Peace Square in Krasnoyarsk.

When creating the exhibition, the authors were inspired by wartime newspaper issues. In 1941–1945, the main source of daily news for residents of the region was the Krasnoyarsk Worker newspaper. In their notes, reports, and articles, correspondents brought their fellow countrymen not only important information, but also hope and faith in the victorious end of the war.

For two weeks, Peace Square turned into an exhibition space, built according to the logic of a newspaper issue. Spectators can freely move between stands, choose a convenient route, take memorable photos, read information or receive it via audio. The backlight allows you to get acquainted with the materials at any time of the day.

The exhibition includes: a column “Message from the Soviet Information Bureau” with a chronicle of the war, material for the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Moscow, columns about the exploits of fellow countrymen at the front and how rear workers raised funds for tank columns, squadrons of aircraft, and holiday packages for the “unknown fighter.” The stands contain notes about leading production workers, youth front-line brigades, and advanced collective farmers. The expanded material reflects the history of the evacuation of industry to the Krasnoyarsk Territory – using the example of the legendary radio plant and other industries.

Related materials

For the first time, such an exhibition presents in detail the cultural life of the region during the war years. Posters from those years introduce cultural figures who not only created works of art, but also fought at the front. Among them are artists Boris Ryauzov, Evgeny Kobytev, Yuri Khudonogov; writers Viktor Astafiev, Ivan Panteleev, Georgy Suvorov, Ivan Urazov, Ivan Byvyshkh.

The central part of the exhibition is a cascading podium with a stele in the shape of a five-pointed star. The steps serve as a stage for performances by famous bands of the region. Concerts will be given by: folk song ensemble “Krasny Yar” – May 2 at 14:00, folk song ensemble “Sibirskaya Vechora” – May 14 at 19:30.

Archival materials were also provided by the State Memorial Museum of the Defense and Siege of Leningrad, the Museum of the Defense of Sevastopol, the Krasnoyarsk Drama Theater. A.S.
