Donald Trump announces a new operation in the Strait of Hormuz

“Countries around the world, almost none of which are involved in the Middle East conflict that is unfolding so clearly and violently, before everyone's eyes, asked the United States for help in freeing their ships trapped in the Strait of Hormuz (…). For the sake of Iran, the Middle East and the United States, we told these countries that We will get their ships safely out of these closed waterwaysso that they can freely and efficiently go about their business,” Trump announced in a post on the Truth Social platform.
The president did not explain how the U.S. would help ships get through the strait. However, he announced that “Project Freedom” will start on Monday. He stated that, given the situation on these ships and their running out of resources, this is a “humanitarian gesture on the part of the United States, Middle Eastern countries, and especially Iran.” However, he threatened that this process would be disrupted and that he would be forced to respond forcefully.
Donald Trump has previously announced possible ship escorts through Hormuz, but So far, these announcements have not been fulfilled.
Trump also emphasized that his representatives were conducting “very positive” talks with Iran, even though a day earlier he rejected Tehran's latest proposal.
