Gold and the envelope are far behind. This is the hit of Polish communions

As many as 68 respondents plan to buy electronic equipment, while a year earlier it was 49%. – according to a study by Komputronik.
The importance of cash has dropped dramatically – from over 30%. to only 9.1 percent . An even greater decline can be seen in the case of traditional gifts, such as jewelry, books or clothes, which are now marginal choices (approx. 2% of responses in each category), Komputronik also reports.
The laptop clearly dominates among the devices (44%), which has become the new communion standard. This is followed by smartphones (over 14%), tablets and desktop computers (12% each). Gadgets such as smartwatches and consoles are less important these days.

The surveyed people who will be First Communion guests this year confirm that the scale of expenses and the importance of the event remain very high. According to the study, two factors are key: budget (24%) and practicality (24%). Tradition (5.3%) or even the child's wishes (12%) are much less important.
“This is a clear signal that purchasing decisions are becoming more and more rational. Communion has become the moment of the first serious investment in the child's development, education, digital competences and everyday functioning,” we read in the analysis.
— Just a few years ago it was more often a choice “for effect”, today it is more and more often a well-thought-out and functional decision. Poles no longer buy anything, only equipment that really meets the needs of the child, both at school and in everyday life. A laptop or tablet is no longer a gadget, but a tool for learning, developing interests and building digital competences. With growing budgets, it is natural that we want such a purchase to have long-term value and actually support the child's development, and not just satisfy a temporary whim – says Karolina Pietz Drapińska, Member of the Management Board and Marketing & Digital Development Director at Komputronik.
This is how much we spend on First Communion gifts
As much as 70 percent respondents believe that expectations regarding the value of First Communion gifts have increased in recent years.
When it comes to the budget allocated for gifts, the most indicated amounts were PLN 1,000-2,000. PLN and 2–3 thousand PLN (24.4% each). Just over 13 percent respondents plan to spend over 3,000 zloty. Gifts up to PLN 500 constitute a marginal percentage (less than 7%). Godparents feel particular pressure – as many as 69%. of them declare that their role obliges them to spend more money.

E-commerce is driving change
The dominance of electronics also translates into where people shop. Already over 46 percent respondents choose online electronics stores, while stationary stores attract only 15 percent. buyers.
— We are observing a very clear trend of combining shopping channels. Many customers finalize transactions online, but first visit stationary showrooms to compare devices, check their quality and consult the choice with the seller. We see this both in the growing traffic in stores and in the number of questions. Customers are increasingly looking for specific, practical tips – what equipment will be suitable for learning, what to pay attention to when choosing, and which model will work “for years”. This shows that purchasing decisions are much more conscious today, and the role of consulting, both offline and online, is becoming crucial – says Karolina Pietz Drapińska.
