“I can't wait to see Putin in court.” Aleksei Navalny's widow, the first interview after the publication of the analyzes confirming the poisoning

The death of Russian dissident Aleksey Navalny continues to raise questions after several European governments announced that he was poisoned with a highly toxic substance. His widow, Yulia Navalnaia, said the findings reinforce her belief that her husband was killed on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to the information presented, laboratory analyzes carried out in the United Kingdom, France and Germany would have identified the presence of epibatidine, an extremely toxic compound, in samples taken from Navalnî's body. The substance is associated with the venom of a species of dart frog and can be synthesized in the laboratory.

The dissident's widow, Iulia Navalnaia, said the findings reinforce her belief that her husband was killed on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“Nobody knows what goes through Putin's head. He's a former KGB officer — it's hard to understand how they think, to explain the things they do. I can explain the political aspects. But this…?”, said the widow of Aleksei Navalny, according to The Times.

“It's not the first or second time (Putin) has poisoned people,” he stated this in the first interview since the publication of the results, expressing his wish that the Kremlin leader be brought to justice:

“I can't wait to see Putin in front of the court. He acts like a tsar and does everything he wants, but one day in prison he will finally understand that people did not support him. They were silent because they were afraid of him. (…) I understand that it is very dangerous to be in opposition to Putin.”

Navalnaia, meanwhile becoming one of the main voices of the Russian opposition in exile, continues the work started by her husband through the Anticorruption Foundation and editorial initiatives aimed at promoting access to information for the Russian public.

Aleksei Navalnyi died two years ago in a penal colony in the Arctic region of Russia, known for its harsh conditions of detention. Russian authorities claimed the death was natural, but his supporters have accused him of a possible assassination from the beginning.

“I am absolutely convinced that Putin saw my husband as the biggest threat to his power — and he was right. He was the exact opposite of Putin. He was very open to people. He had a huge audience. Putin, on the other hand, was sitting somewhere in the woods, away from people, surrounded by guards.” declared Navalnaya.

Despite the risks, Iulia Navalnaia says she will continue the political fight, arguing that Russia needs change.

“Putin has never held a proper election — he's a dictator, a murderer and a war criminal who sends people to their deaths by invading a neighboring country and does nothing good for his own people. Any change in Russia would be an improvement.” she stated, also stating that many Russian citizens are against the war in Ukraine.
