Two Romanians, detained after being caught carrying a stolen safe on a ski slope in Austria

Two Romanian citizens were detained in Austria after stealing a safe from a restaurant in Fieberbrunn, which they then carried down a ski slope to the car in which they tried to flee. The men are also accused of having previously stolen the tools used in the burglary.

The incident took place on Sunday morning, around 3:30, writes the Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung.
According to the authorities, the safe was torn from the place where it was fixed, and the suspects carried it over a ski slope to a car. Witnesses observed the entire action and immediately alerted the police.
The suspect car was stopped a short time later by the police in Saalfelden, in the territory of the Land of Salzburg. There were two Romanian citizens in the vehicle, aged 47 and 50, who were detained.
The two are suspected not only of stealing the safe, but also of stealing the tools used in the burglary, prior to committing the crime, from the Kitzbühel area or the Pinzgau region.
The police in Fieberbrunn announced that they are conducting checks to identify other possible victims of the suspects.
