MTS has expanded its LTE network in the Yenisei district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Thanks to the launch of domestic IRTEA base stations, mobile Internet coverage has improved in Yeniseisk and the village of Verkhnepashino.
New equipment appeared in one of the oldest cities in Siberia, whose history goes back more than 400 years. Yeniseisk attracts tourists from all over the country with its historical center, which is included in the tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Now, even with high network loads, subscribers will be able to use a navigator, send photos and videos, and also learn about local attractions – for example, about the exile of Archpriest Avvakum or the unique collection of the Yenisei Museum of Local Lore.
In the village of Verkhnepashino, where more than 2.5 thousand people live, the launch of the station also increased LTE coverage. Local residents and employees of logging enterprises received access to high-speed Internet for banking services, government services, study, work, watching movies and online games.
“With the help of domestic equipment, we are improving the quality of communication on the LTE coverage map in the Krasnoyarsk Territory and strengthening the network where necessary. Residents of small and remote settlements get access to modern opportunities, just like residents of cities and regional centers. The launch of IRTEY base stations is another important step in eliminating the digital divide,” said Sergey Yegoshin, director of MTS in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
MTS is implementing the first large-scale project in Russia to develop and implement domestically produced LTE stations. By 2030, the company will receive 20 thousand of such devices. The equipment was developed and manufactured by the Russian company IRTEA, half of whose shares belong to MTS. In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, IRTEYA stations are already operating in the Boguchansky, Emelyanovsky and Taseevsky districts, as well as in Divnogorsk and Nazarovo.
