The film “Yellow Tie”, which is about the tumultuous life of the great conductor Sergiu Celibidache, had its gala premiere on Saturday evening, at Sala Palatului, attended by well-known names from the world cinema industry.
The basis of the film is a script that was written gradually, for almost 20 years, based on the letters of family members, as well as the stories that Sergiu Celebidache told his son, Serge Ioan Celebidache.
Apart from the film's director, Serge Ioan Celebidachi, the actors from the film's cast, namely John Malkovich, Sean Bean and Ben Schnetzer, were present at the premiere, according to Euronews Romania. The American director Tim Burton, a special guest at this event, also walked on the yellow carpet at the Palace Hall.
“I made the film “Wednesday” in Romania. I came to Romania four years ago and I'm happy to come back here”, said Tim Burton, to Euronews Romania.
The British actor Sean Bean stated that it was a pleasure to play the role of Sergiu Celibidachi's father in this film and that it is a joy to come to the Capital.
“It's a wonderful film, very well made. The characters are extraordinary. It's about an extraordinary musician who didn't want his music to be recorded, but for people to appreciate it live. It's a pleasure for me to come to Bucharest and play the father of this musician,” Sean Bean told Euronews Romania.
John Malkovich: A wonderful film about a very interesting man
The American actor John Malkovich, who plays the mature Romanian conductor, said of “The Yellow Tie” that it is a “wonderful film about a very interesting man.” He pointed out that he had to learn a new skill to play the role.
“I had to learn to direct some pieces that are not easy at all. (…) It's always challenging to make a good film. I had to learn many things and that's interesting. I like watching the story. Maybe the directing part. I'm not Celibidache, but directing is interesting and funny. I like the story of his life,” said John Malkovich, to Euronews Romania.
The director of the film “Cravata Galbenă”, the conductor's son, Serge Ioan Celebidachi, emphasized that the premiere on Saturday evening represents for him “the beginning of the dialogue with the audience”.
“I hope we unite in other values, something beautiful from Romania and have a warmer heart. Let's go home with the hope that it is possible, our children to follow their dream”, declared Celebidachi.
