

According to them, Washington is preparing to increase pressure on Moscow if it rejects the peace agreement with Ukraine.
Among the options that the United States is considering are restrictions against “shadow fleet” vessels, as well as against traders facilitating these operations, Bloomberg interlocutors say. Washington could unveil new measures as early as this week, several sources said.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent already discussed the plans during a meeting with a group of European ambassadors earlier this week, the sources said. But the final decision remains with US President Donald Trump, they emphasized.
Bessent wrote in X on December 15 about this meeting, but did not mention the preparation of sanctions.
“President Trump is the president of the world, and I reiterated that under his leadership, America will continue to prioritize ending the war in Ukraine,” his post said.
