Military aviation has started an operation in Polish airspace due to the activity of Russians conducting missile attacks on Ukraine – informs the Operational Command of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces. As indicated, this concerns preventive actions by the pair of fighter jets and the early warning aircraft on duty.

About the take-off of Polish planes, the Operational Command of the Branches of the Armed Forces – responsible, among others, for the daily protection of the Polish sky – it reported on Thursday evening in a post on X.
“Attention! Due to the activity of long-range aviation of the Russian Federation, carrying out missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine, military aviation has begun operating in our airspace,” it said.
As we read, “the on-duty fighter pair and the early warning aircraft were picked up, and the ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems reached a state of higher readiness”
“These actions are preventive in nature and are aimed at securing the airspace and its protection, in particular in areas adjacent to threatened areas. The Operational Command of the Armed Forces monitors the current situation, and the subordinate forces and resources remain ready for immediate response,” the Command assured.
In reference to the command's announcement, also on the 10th Polish Air Navigation Services Agency PANSA informed that due to military aviation activities, the airports in Lublin and Rzeszów had temporarily suspended air operations.
In recent months, Polish and allied combat aircraft have been regularly taken into flight in connection with repeated Russian mass airstrikes in Ukraine. The task of pilots in this type of missions is to patrol Polish airspace and make sure that drones do not pose a threat to Poland.
According to reports appearing on social networks, several dozen drones and several groups of cruise missiles, probably of the Kh-101 type or similar, were observed in Ukrainian airspace, including: over the Kiev, Zhytomyr, Mykolaiv and Kirovohrad regions.
Earlier information indicated the activity of Russian strategic aviation aircraft, including Tu-95 bombers.
On Wednesday afternoon, the target of an attack by Russian drones was also Odessa, where a Russian drone hit an apartment block. “One person was killed and six were injured as a result of the attack,” the Ukrainska Pravda website reported, citing the head of the municipal military administration in Odessa, Serhiy Lysak.
