“In order not to attract attention to themselves, the accused acted under the guise of carrying out ongoing work, using official equipment and a car with the name of the organization. They drove the car to the wells, went down inside and sawed off the cable. They took the stolen property to a vacant lot, burned it and handed it over to scrap metal collection points. The total damage amounted to almost one and a half million rubles,” the regional police clarified.
Currently, a criminal investigation is underway under Part 4 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft committed by an organized group on an especially large scale) has been completed. The thieves face up to 10 years in prison. Them a preventive measure was chosen in the form of a written undertaking not to leave the place and proper behavior.
