“I have a few questions that I will ask directly, without any detours”

A day after what was publicly reprimanded for the obscene slip by Andrei Nicolescuthe president of Dinamo, Florentin Petre, explained his uncontrolled reaction at the end of the match with Unirea Slobozia, when he chanted insults at Stella and roughed up Claudiu Niculescu, in an attempt to convince him to join him.

Present in the Prima Sport studio, Andrei Nicolescu warned Florentin Petre about inappropriate gestures and declared that “The Dwarf” is not in the first episode of this kind.

I can understand, on the other hand, I spoke with Florentin because of the incidents last time so that we don't have incidents like that again. I spoke to him because he made some gestures that came to the attention of the media.

I don't agree, I can understand the euphoria of the gallery, the memory and nostalgia of the times when they were footballers and that's what they identify with. We can find chants that represent us better.

Now, Florentin Petre came back with a message, explaining that this scandal arose only because Dinamo is high in the ranking, with real chances for the title.

Florentin Petre motivated his obscene slip: “What do the star fans shout after every match when it comes to Dinamo?”

“Today I am second coach at Dinamo Bucharest, but before any position I was a player of this club and I remained the same man who lives every match with a full soul.

At the end of football matches, they shout with the supporters. There are moments of emotion, moments when I feel part of the lawn, part of the energy that has kept this club alive for so many years. The rivalry between Dinamo and Steaua is not a new story, it is part of the history of Romanian football and the identity of both clubs.

I also openly ask, what do the Stelista fans shout after every match when it comes to Dinamo? We all know what is heard from their stands. It was always like that between the two teams. It's a strong rivalry, but stay in the stadium!!!

I did not attack anyone personally. I did not incite violence. I live moments of joy with people who have supported me throughout my career.

And I have a few more questions that I ask directly, without detours. Why is this chant bothering me right now? Why didn't he bother for years in a row when he was heard in all the stadiums? Why wasn't it a problem when it came from the other side?

I answer!!! It bothers because Dinamo is up. It bothers because Dinamo is fighting. It bothers because Dinamo are playing well and showing character. It bothers because Dinamo has become a team that matters again, a team that puts pressure, a team that gathers people around it again and gives them hope.

When Dinamo was down, no one analyzed every word shouted on the lawn. Today, when the team grows and our work is seen, suddenly the culprits are being sought for a decades-old chant.

I believe in our work. I believe in boys. I believe in the staff. I believe in the fans. And I think that when Dinamo starts to bother with results, with attitude and with the game, such discussions also appear. Dinamo is alive again. And this, for some, is the most difficult to accept”, Florentin Petre wrote on his personal Facebook account.

Florentin Petre: “I am put on the wall for a chant that everyone knows and that has been heard for years in all stadiums”

Also, Florentin Petre recalled several episodes, in which he fell victim to hostile supporters, recalling the times in which he was cursed, or even threatened with death.

I want to remember an episode that was painful for me and that I will never forget. After the death of my friend and colleague Cătălin Hîldan, an entire stadium shouted exactly like that, “PETER FLORENTIN, GO AFTER CĂTĂLIN”. They were hard words, which still hurt today when I write them. I gritted my teeth and moved on.

Today I am walled up for a chant that everyone knows and that has been heard in all stadiums for years. Suddenly, elegant and academic speeches are demanded in the stadium and they look at what the reality looks like in the stands.

What should I do when the gallery calls my name and the whole stadium starts chanting? Should I turn my back, shut up, tell people to change their words, ask them to erase decades of rivalry and turn the stand into a place where we shout pansies for the Star?

When we all know what the atmosphere is like in the stadium and that there is yelling, cursing and football is experienced at maximum intensity?

Last season, at an away game, my family sat next to a supporter who shouted death at me and swore at my whole family, from my mother to my children, and at another away game, right behind my bench, a gentleman swore at me the whole game and told me to go fishing one more time, maybe I'll die there and not sit on the bench anymore. These are real, lived things, not stories.

It's easy to talk on TV or write about a historic chant and analyze every word, but in the stadium there are things that are much tougher, much more personal, much harder to carry.

That's how it is in the stadium. No one can change that. No one can stop all the swearing. No one can turn the stadium overnight into a perfectly civilized place from the point of view of language.

I know there are also children in the stands and I want them to be protected, but the reality is that even if I were to remain silent, even if I never shouted again, which will not happen, tens of thousands of fans in attendance will shout, because that is the culture of the stadium and its energy.

I don't run away from emotion. I don't run away from the gallery. I'm not running away from my identity. I'm a second coach and I do my job, and the results can be seen with the whole staff. Our work is on the field, in training, in the dressing room.

That is where we focus our energy and that is where we must be judged. But I also remain the man who feels with the supporters, because without this connection football would mean nothing.

I can't deny my past and I don't want to. I was a player at Dinamo. I fought for this club. I love these supporters and I feel like one of them. When the cameras close, we and the passion for Dinamo remain. I remain the same man. Direct. Involved. Dinamo“.

Mihai Stoica vehemently criticized Florentin Petre

I'm surprised, he has such a short memory (No. Florentin Petre), I know him. He came out some time ago and publicly thanked Gigi for saving his life, for paying for an extremely expensive treatment, even though he had nothing to do with him, and with all that he now goes and curses Steaua. It's really hard to explain!

– Mihai Stoicaabout the gestures of Florentin Petre.

In 2000, Petre found out that he was suffering from an infectious liver disease. He was treated, but later the disease relapsed, and Gigi Becali helped him with a substantial amount of money to save his life.

Nea Gigi then gave me a treatment for hepatitis C in the amount of 35-40,000 euros. I didn't even know how to react, I took him in my arms. I also cried for about half an hour in the car afterwards. Not everyone does that to you.

I respected Becali before anyway, but from that moment he became an icon. If he calls me tomorrow that he needs something, anything, I will help him with all my heart, because he saved my life.
