This is the first decision to sell weapons from Ukraine since the beginning of the second term of Donald Trump – the portal points out. The decision takes place a few weeks after the United States stopped military assistance for Kiev.
As part of the last help package, Congress approved the sale of weapons related to the digital combat simulation (DCS) worth a billion dollars. Previous administrations allowed Ukraine to use a part of this assistance to buy key armament, such as machine guns.
From 2015 to 2023, the United States enabled the export of defense articles and services to Ukraine under DCS for a sum of over $ 1.6 billion. Importantly, the DCS program takes place in a neat way, which distinguishes it from publicly announced arms transactions.
“The entire DCS is quiet, it is not publicly announced, as opposed to selling weapons abroad,” noted in an interview with the Colby Badhwar portal, a security analyst from the Tochnyi research group. As he assessed, despite earlier forecasts that Trump will completely cut Ukraine from weapons supply, the sale of American weapons is still ongoing.

Consent for the sale of a weapon was submitted to the Congress in accordance with the Act on the control of the export of weapons, which allows the US President to control the export of defense articles and services. The proposed transaction includes providing Ukraine, both weapons, technical data and defense services.
The decision of the Trump administration appears at a crucial moment for Ukraine, which intensifies its activities to strengthen the defense potential. A few weeks ago, the President of Ukraine Wołodymyr Zelanski announced that his country intends to buy anti-aircraft defense systems from the USA and other weapons worth $ 30-50 billion. as part of future security guarantees.
