The CFR Cluj team defeated on Saturday night, on its own ground, score 1-0, the Cluj University band, in the seventh stage of the Superligi play-off.
In a first half in which the guests did not exist on the field, Dan Petrescu's students scored in the 35th minute, through Meroto Korenica, reports News.ro. Louis Munteanu tried his chance in the 59th minute, but his shot, from the box, was diverted into the corner.
In the 62nd minute the match was stopped for four minutes due to the fact that the Var system did not work. In the 72nd minute the match was interrupted again for a minute and a half, for the same reason.
On the field, Sabău's team balanced the game and Hindrich caught Blănuţă's headache, in the 82nd minute. In the 90th minute, Macalou shot from outside the box, and goalkeeper Hindrich escaped the ball to go to the crossbar.
Finally, the university searched the equalizing goal, the match was fractionated, and the last minutes also brought confrontations between the players of the two teams, the referee Marcel Bîrsan granting several yellow cards.
The CFR has prevailed with 1-0, succeeds in the first victory against U and passes in the second place in the play-off ranking, with 38 points, four lengths of leader, FCSB. On the third place is CS Universitatea Craiova, with 36 points, and U Cluj is on the 4th place, with 35 points.
