A post published by the Romanian Information Service (SRI) on Facebook, on the occasion of March 8, became viral and caused numerous reactions in the online environment. The message, formulated in an ironic tone and illustrated by a suggestive image, was interpreted differently by users: some considered it a clever joke, while others criticized it harshly, accusing the institution of sexism.

The image published by SRI presents a reinterpretation of an alert scale similar to those used in the field of national security. At the highest level, marked as “CRITICAL”, the word “ appearsFEMALE”written on a black background, with the message: “Great care! We intervene only up to RED-CRITICAL“.
The post seems to make an ironic allusion to contemporary debates about gender and how these topics are discussed in the public space. Some netizens interpreted the message as a satire on what they consider the excess of “political correctness” or influence “woke up” in sensitive areas such as national security.
Critical reactions in the online environment
However, not all users took the message with humor. Numerous comments criticized the post, calling it inappropriate for a public institution and offensive to women. “Disappointing! Sexism isn't funny and you already know that. Come on, you can do better than that, I know 🙂“, one user wrote. “Brilliant post! I'm curious if it's from a 'victim' man!”, another user wrote.
Another person commented: “Celebrate March 8th with a sexist joke? Only for misogynists would it be a danger for women to hold power.” In the same tone, a user directly asked: “Are you misogynists?”
There were also ironic comments about the institution. “This message will be deleted by noon,” someone wrote, while another user added: “It's good to know your limits.”

On the other hand, the post also received positive reactions. Some users appreciated the ironic tone of the message and thought it was a successful joke.

Although reactions are mixed, the post quickly gained attention online, generating dozens of comments and debates about the limits of humor when it comes to sensitive topics such as gender equality.
