How the first tram tracks were installed in Bucharest. In the beginning there were only 5 km of roadway

In the history of public transport in Bucharest, the tram has a special place.
It was 1871 when horse-drawn wagons, introduced by a French company between Piața Victoriei and Dealul Spirii, began to circulate on the city streets.
A few years later, in 1874, the first electric tram was introduced, running between Obor and Cotroceni.
But the foundations of modern tram transport were laid in 1912, with the construction of the infrastructure for the new lines.
The first pieces of rail were bought from the German company “Westfaliche Stahlwerke Verband” and were preparing the ground for the retirement of horse-drawn trams.
