Regulation of the rules for collecting health insurance contributions from all citizens is proposed by the National Section of NSZZ “Solidarność”, which notes that currently there are over 20 professional groups that do not pay contributions.

– I am a supporter of reviewing this system – Sobierańska-Grenda said on Radio ZET.

She added that NSZZ “Solidarność” at a meeting of the tripartite team for health care proposed that for groups exempt from paying health insurance contributions, the contribution should be paid by the state in the form of a subsidy to the National Health Fund.

She noted that any decision to limit privileged groups rests with the government. – We carry out such a review. Together with the Ministry of Finance, we are looking for solutions to ensure that the subsidy flows into the National Health Fund budget, said Sobierańska-Grenda.

The Minister of Health added that the Ministry of Health receives demands from political groups to look at the health contributions paid by farmers, as well as who actually is a farmer. – There are signals from various circles that perhaps it should be raised – said Sobierańska-Grenda.

– 85 percent The National Health Fund's budget this year is the health contribution, the remaining 15%. a subsidy is needed – informed Sobierańska-Grenda.

– Our belief that we would be able to make payments from health insurance premiums alone is long gone – she added.

The Ministry of Health wants to reduce the dynamics of the increase in minimum wages in health care, which would bring PLN 4.5 billion in savings in 2026. Changes to the rules for indexation of minimum wages are opposed by the trade unions in the tripartite team for health care.

The National Health Fund's revenues in 2026 have been planned at PLN 217.4 billion, including revenues from the health insurance premium of PLN 184.3 billion and a subsidy from the state budget of PLN 26 billion. The National Health Fund deficit in 2026 is estimated at PLN 23 billion. (PAP)
