The Minister of Education spoke about banning smartphones in schools

According to him, the practices of educational institutions regarding interaction with gadgets vary: in some schools, phones are left in special lockers or boxes, and children can pick them up during breaks.

“My point of view is that a box in a classroom where a culture has been formed, when children leave their phone in a box in the classroom, will help them be focused on learning. This is our point of view. But this discussion must be held with the public. No one forbids this to be done at school today. Yes, the school can conclude such a conditional social agreement with parents and introduce such an approach,” Lesovoy explained.

He noted that conflicts now arise in schools when parents insist that their children be constantly in touch.

In 2023, the Educational Ombudsen Service proposed to develop a regulatory act on the use of mobile phones in educational institutions that would take into account educational purposes, safety and the interests of students and parents.
