On World Pneumonia Day, November 12, experts gave recommendations on how to prevent this disease.

As noted by the press service of Rospotrebnadzor in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, pneumonia can be contracted at any age, but children under five years of age and the elderly are more vulnerable. In addition, pneumonia can be an independent disease, but it often develops as a complication after a cold, so during ARVI it is necessary to adhere to bed rest.

You should consult a doctor if you have the following symptoms: if your health has sharply worsened 3-5 days after the onset of the disease, a high body temperature persists for more than 5 days, a prolonged cough is bothersome, there is severe weakness and sweating, there is a lack of air when breathing.

To prevent pneumonia, experts recommend: getting vaccinated against hemophilus influenzae and pneumococcal infections, influenza, measles, whooping cough, not self-medicating and promptly consulting a doctor if you have a cold, following the rules of hand hygiene and optimal physical activity, giving up bad habits, including smoking, promptly treating bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which contribute to the development of pneumonia.
