French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot appealed on Monday for Iran to “agree to serious concessions” as part of diplomatic efforts aimed at avoiding a US attack on Iranian territory.

Barrot emphasized that the US had proposed negotiations to Tehran and said that Iran “should absolutely accept them.” Iran “should make serious concessions and (agree to) a radical change of attitude,” added the minister, speaking during his visit to Toulouse.
He added that France is “in contact with mediators in the region who are trying to facilitate these negotiations.”
The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Monday that Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned ambassadors of EU countries for a meeting in response to the EU's decision to recognize the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist group. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Paris appealed to Iran to “immediately release prisoners, stop executions” and allow the repression in Iran to be investigated by a mission of the UN Human Rights Council.
US President Donald Trump threatened Iran with military intervention if the authorities in Tehran continue to work on the nuclear weapons program, continue to suppress anti-government demonstrations and are unwilling to enter into talks. (PAP)
