On Saturday, federal judge Fred Biery granted the family's attorney's emergency request and ordered authorities to release the father and his son no later than February 3. He attached a photo of a 5-year-old boy wearing a blue cap to the ruling.
“The case has its origins in the failed and ineptly implemented government policy, the aim of which is to implement deportation limits on a daily basis, even if this involves traumatizing children.”

He also stated that deportations conducted by the US immigration system should be carried out in a more orderly and humane manner than currently.
