MegaFon showed the best results in terms of voice quality in Russia. This is evidenced by a study by DMTEL conducted in 2025 in 82 Russian cities.
According to a comprehensive assessment, which included an analysis of the quality of calls based on modern VoLTE technology and traditional voice communications, MegaFon took a leading position.
The study was based on a 10-month drive test, during which experts covered 30 thousand kilometers in eight federal districts of Russia and made about 328 thousand voice connections lasting 120 seconds in the networks of four mobile operators.
Thus, the share of successful connection attempts via traditional voice communication at MegaFon was 98.69%, and the average time to establish a voice call was 24% faster than that of its nearest competitor. At the same time, the operator’s average speech quality score (Mean Opinion Score, MOS) during a call was the highest – 3.92 points out of 5.

Based on VoLTE technology, which allows you to make calls and simultaneously use the mobile Internet from one device, the average MOS score reached 4.45 out of 5. And the percentage of successful connection attempts in the operator’s network was 99.05%.

MegaFon continuously updates its infrastructure and implements solutions to improve the quality of voice services. Over the past year, engineers have upgraded 30% more base stations across the country. In addition, the transport infrastructure was significantly updated: fiber-optic communication lines now cover 89% of settlements where more than 10 thousand people live.
“Voice remains a basic service for millions of subscribers. “MegaFon has consistently developed the network’s capabilities for user communication, becoming the first operator to launch VoLTE throughout the country, and then in international roaming,” noted MegaFon CTO Alexey Titov.
