The head of Krasnoyarsk met with activists of the regional Union of Northern Military District Veterans

27 February 10:37

The head of Krasnoyarsk Sergei Vereshchagin discussed with the regional Union of Northern Military District Veterans issues of supporting soldiers and their families. The mayor's office spoke about this.

The meeting took place at the Patriot youth military sports center. During the conversation, the participants discussed issues of improving interaction between the authorities and public organizations in providing assistance to participants in a special military operation and their families. One of the proposals concerned the appearance of union representatives in district administrations, who could personally receive members of the SVO and members of their families, and assist in resolving legal, social and everyday issues.

“These people can become a connecting link, help resolve private issues, organize sports and patriotic events, promote veterans’ initiatives and be able to listen to soldiers and speak the same language with them,” said Igor Balabolenko, chairman of the Union of Northern Military District Veterans.

Currently, a similar practice is being implemented by the administration of the Sverdlovsk region. This helps to quickly resolve issues addressed by SBO participants.

Representatives of the union also asked the mayor to organize district and city competitions in various sports among veterans of the Northern Military District. Physical activity will help soldiers rehabilitate and better adapt to civilian life.

“When working with participants in a special military operation, a proactive mode is especially important. Soldiers and their families must feel that they will be helped and cared for. A separate task is the launch of projects for the socialization of veterans, including those related to their self-realization. Here I mean both sports and creative projects. We plan to launch just such a new citywide project, which will unite combat veterans, in Krasnoyarsk in March,” said Sergei Vereshchagin.

Let us remind you that the Krasnoyarsk regional public organization “Union of Veterans of Special Military Operations” has been conducting public activities since 2023. Areas of focus include social and legal support for veterans and members of their families, humanitarian assistance to SVO participants; patriotic education of youth, holding cultural and sports events, memorial events and preserving historical memory. A number of union members are undergoing training as part of the regional personnel program “Siberian Character”.
