“It will be useful for every housewife.” Recipe for rice water dough, which makes delicious pies

On February 15, the author of the Ukrainian culinary YouTube blog Lilia Tsvit told how to prepare delicious fried pies using rice water.

“A recipe that will be useful to every housewife. These are monastery pies made with rice water. As with most such recipes, its uniqueness is that it is budget-friendly, everything is prepared for pennies from available products, and it turns out incredibly tasty. Just look how soft and beautiful they are. Save the recipe for yourself,” the food blogger urged.

In the description of the video, Tsvit added that according to this recipe, the dough is soft, fluffy and very tender, and the rice filling is aromatic and tasty.

Ingredients for 10 pies:

  • 250 ml rice water;
  • 1 tbsp. l. Sahara;
  • 15 g yeast;
  • 1 tsp. salt;
  • 2 tbsp. l. vegetable oil;
  • 150 g rice;
  • two eggs;
  • bunch of dill.

Preparation

  1. Pour cold water over the rice, cook until done and strain.
  2. Measure out 250 ml of rice water and let it cool to room temperature.
  3. Add yeast and sugar to the broth, stir and leave for 15 minutes to activate the yeast. Add salt and vegetable oil, stir.
  4. Sift the flour, knead the dough and leave it under the film for 1.5 hours until it rises.
  5. For the filling, combine the remaining cooked rice, eggs and dill.
  6. Divide the dough into 10–12 pieces. Form each piece into a ball and leave on the work surface for a few minutes. Flatten the ball on your hand, lay out the filling and pinch the edges well.
  7. Place the pies on a floured surface and let rest for a few more minutes.
  8. Fry the pies in a preheated frying pan with vegetable oil on both sides until golden brown.
  9. Place the finished pies on a paper towel to remove excess fat.
