As the spokesman for the Bieszczady Border Guard Unit, Lt. Piotr Zakielarz, told PAP, suspects whose 90 days of stay in Poland under the visa-free regime had expired obtained a PESEL UKR number and, based on it, registered in the diia.pl application, which allows them to stay in Poland indefinitely.

When entering Poland, foreigners declared their intention to leave Ukraine due to the ongoing hostilities and stay in Poland. In fact, their stay was mainly aimed at purchasing cars and transporting them to the territory of Ukraine – said Lt. Zakielarz.

They were charged with making false statements and illegally crossing the border using deception. Property worth PLN 70,000 was secured for future penalties.

The website of the Bieszczady Border Guard Branch contains a copy of the court judgment from December 2025, sentencing the Ukrainian Ivan M. to a fine of PLN 3,000. PLN fine for the offense of obtaining a PESEL UKR number on the basis of a false declaration and then repeatedly crossing the Polish border under the guise of evaluation from Ukraine, but actually for commercial purposes.

In accordance with the court's decision, the judgment was made public by posting a copy of it on the BiOSG website. (PAP)
