In Kansk, criminal investigation officers convicted a 21-year-old technical school student of dishonesty. The situation was reported to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

Last summer, the girl took out a loan from the bank in the amount of about 300 thousand rubles, but after some time, due to financial difficulties, she was unable to fulfill her obligations under the contract. She began receiving messages and calls from the financial institution reminding her about the debt. The girl's classmates who noticed this concluded that their friend had become a victim of scammers.

The student decided to use the version put forward by her fellow students. She contacted the police with a message that unknown people took out a loan in her name in July 2024. Cybercrime department operatives joined in to clarify the circumstances of the incident.

“When filing a statement, the police warned the girl about criminal liability for giving knowingly false information, but she deliberately insisted on fraud committed against her and accusing unknown persons of an unlawful act. Having compared all the arguments and studied the details of the services, police officers found out that the applicant was misleading them,” the regional police press service said.

A criminal case was opened against the student under Part 2 of Art. 306 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Knowingly false denunciation.” The sanction of the article implies a maximum punishment in the form of forced labor or imprisonment for up to 3 years.
