During the UN General Assembly in New York, the topic of recognition of the Palestinian state sounded extremely strongly. The Chairman of the European Council Antonio Costa reminded that most EU countries have already decided to take this step. – There is only one way forward: a two -state solution. The safe and recognized state of Israel and the independent, democratic and capable of Palestine, living next to each other – he emphasized.
According to the list of agencies included in the ENR, 16 out of 27 EU countries formally recognized Palestine. This group included Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Cyprus, which did so in the 1980s. In 2014, Sweden joined, in 2024 – Slovenia, Spain and Ireland. The latest wave of recognition, including Portugal and France, is part of a broader international trend – similar decisions were announced, among others Australia, Canada and Great Britain.
The Italian minister warns
Italian defense minister Guido Crosetto during a meeting with Italian participants of the international flotilla with humanitarian aid for the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip, that activists did not take steps that could bring dramatic effects.
