Meteorologists announce that the frost will not let up: extremely cold weather, reduced visibility and dangerous traffic conditions

The frost continues to affect the north, center and east of the country, where temperatures will remain below normal. In Teleorman, Brăila and Giurgiu, reduced visibility due to fog and fog will affect road traffic.

According to meteorologists, the sky will be temporarily cloudy, and precipitation will occur isolated and in various forms: light rains in Banat and Crișana, mixed in Maramureș and in the mountains. In Transylvania, Moldova and isolated in Muntenia and Dobrogea, poley conditions will be reported. The wind will be light and moderate, with intensifications at high altitudes.

Maximum temperatures will fall between -6 and 6 degrees Celsius, and minimums will range between -7 and 3 degrees. In the morning fog will form locally associated with drizzle.

Meteorologists have issued a Yellow Fog Code until 9:00 a.m. for several localities in Teleorman county – including Alexandria, Zimnicea, Videle and Drăgănești-Vlașca – where visibility will locally drop below 200 meters, and isolated below 50 meters. Conditions favor the formation of ice or ice

Code Yellow for fog was also issued for Brăila and Giurgiu counties.

In the Capital, the weather will remain particularly cold, frosty especially in the morning. The sky will be temporarily cloudy, and light snow is possible in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will fall between -8 and -2 degrees Celsius, and towards the end of the night there will be fog and drizzle.

How to get around the country

The INFOTRAFFIC Center of the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police informs that, at this time (07:00), no restrictions are imposed on the network of highways and national roads, as a result of accidents or weather conditions. Traffic is carried out in winter conditions, on mostly wet and clean roadways, and snow removal teams intervene where snow is deposited.

On the main arteries – the A1, A2, A3, A4, A7 highways and the DN1 and DN7 national roads – traffic is running normally, with reduced traffic values.

However, the fog reduces visibility below 200 meters on the roads in Brăila, Giurgiu, Olt and Teleorman counties.

Drivers are advised to drive at low speed, avoid risky overtaking, increase the safety distance and be careful in all maneuvers performed.
