When was the Interoceanic Train inaugurated?

As Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced on Platform X, 36 people required medical assistance and five are in critical condition.

The Interoceanic Train railway line was inaugurated in 2023 under former President Andres Manuel Obrador and is part of the broader Interoceanic Corridor project connecting the Pacific port of Salina Cruz with Coatzacoalcos on the Gulf of Mexico.

The project is intended to intensify passenger and cargo traffic and, according to the designers, will compete with the Panama Canal.
