The Investigative Committee believes that a 14-year-old schoolboy who disappeared in Krasnoyarsk could have become a victim of scammers.
It was established that on January 22, 2026, the teenager, acting on the instructions of persons unknown to him, stole 3 million rubles from his father and, together with a girl who arrived from another city, left home.
“Subsequently, the teenager and the girl handed over the funds to the scammers. After that, the boy’s father’s phone received a message via messenger about the kidnapping of a teenager with a demand for a ransom, as well as a video message from the boy himself about the need to fulfill the conditions put forward,” the Investigative Committee reported.
Investigators opened a criminal case under paragraphs. “a”, “e”, “h” part 2 art. 126 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (kidnapping). During the investigation, law enforcement officers identified the car in which the young people were traveling, the identity of the taxi driver and other witnesses.
After the teenager was found, he and his companion were taken to the investigative department for questioning. The schoolboy said that he gave the money to unknown persons because he was scared – the swindlers were threatening him and his brother.
Now they are looking for the perpetrators. The necessary investigative actions are being carried out and operational search activities are underway.
