Meta announced on Monday the hiring of former adviser to President Donald Trump, Dina Powell McCormick, as the company's president. Trump praised the selection of Mark Zuckerberg, who will remain the chief executive officer (CEO) of Meta.

Zuckerberg announced the company's decision in a post on Meta's Threads platform, announcing that the new president will be responsible, among others, for: for contacts with governments regarding AI policy.
“Dina's experience at the highest levels of global finance, combined with her deep relationships around the world, make her uniquely suited to help Meta manage this next stage of the company's development,” wrote the CEO.
“It will be involved in all Meta activities, with particular emphasis on working with governments and state authorities to create, implement, invest in and finance Meta's artificial intelligence and infrastructure,” he added.
Powell McCormick is a former Goldman Sachs executive, the wife of Republican senator Dave McCormick, and served as deputy national security adviser in Trump's first term. At that time, she was associated with the traditional republican wing of the administration and had, among other things, be a co-author of Trump's speech in Warsaw in 2017.
The US president praised Zuckerberg's decision in a post on his Truth Social website on Monday.
“CONGRATULATIONS TO DINA POWELL MCCORMICK WHO HAS JUST BEEN ELECTED AS THE NEW PRESIDENT OF META. Great choice of Mark Z!!! She is a fantastic and incredibly talented individual who has served the Trump Administration with strength and distinction!” – Trump wrote.
According to CNBC, Powell is the second person on Meta's board with ties to the White House. Previously, Curtis Joseph Mahoney, a former deputy U.S. trade representative in the first Trump administration, was selected as legal director.
Zuckerberg and his company have been sharply criticized in the past by Trump, who accused Zuckerberg of, among other things, illegally influencing the 2020 election. Since Trump took office for the second time, the two have become closer, and Zuckerberg was one of the guests of honor at his presidential inauguration in January 2025.
