On Tuesday, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan had discussions with his counterpart from the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Dick Schoof, during the working visit to Air Base 71 “General Emanoil Ionescu” in Turzii Plain.

According to the Executive, the visit offered the opportunity to organize bilateral consultations regarding the security situation in the region and cooperation within NATO, against the backdrop of the Russian Federation's war of aggression against Ukraine.
“The two prime ministers discussed the ongoing measures to strengthen the allied presence on the Eastern Flank and the concrete contributions of the allied states to deterrence and collective defense. The contribution of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the NATO missions carried out in Romania, including the deployment of military drones and Dutch Air Force personnel, was also mentioned. They also mentioned the joint projects in the field of training, especially the Pilot Training Center F-16 from Borcea”, shows the Government.

Also, the meeting with the Dutch, Romanian and American soldiers from the base provided the opportunity for a direct dialogue regarding the missions carried out and the operational conditions.

The two prime ministers also discussed the support given to Ukraine, highlighting the need for a united approach at the allied level, within NATO, as well as close cooperation with the United States. Aspects related to the current negotiations to reach peace in Ukraine were also addressed, as well as the coordinated response to hybrid threats and Russia's disinformation campaigns.
