At the debates in Cotroceni with the magistrates, “all opinions are received”, President Nicusor Dan said in Helsinki on Monday, who emphasized that he wants the “deficient mechanisms” to be identified after these consultations and the “political will” to correct them.
Nicușor Dan calls all the magistrates who want to report problems in the judiciary to “a discussion without time limit” / His message, while hundreds of people ask him in Piața Victoriei to intervene
“There are things that I have heard informally for a long time, about what is happening in the judiciary. When there are 800 or 900 magistrates who say that these things are happening, it means that there is a serious problem. What is the solution to this serious problem? First of all, things must be structured and proven, because that is also important. At the debates that we will have in Cotroceni, all opinions are received – both in one direction and in the other the other. What is important is to identify those issues that appear very often, such as the Judicial Inspection or the procedure for appointing the heads of courts, to name just two of them, to see which are the mechanisms that are deficient and of course to have the political will to correct them”, he said, according to Agerpres.
The head of state is participating, in Finland, in the Summit of the EU States on the Eastern Flank.
He is to have, on December 22, in Cotroceni, an open-ended meeting with Romanian magistrates, “an important discussion on the Judiciary which will obviously continue”.
Nicusor Dan said that this topic is an important issue that interests him.
“Of course, in the intervals when I do not have international contacts, I am in contact with Romania and with the information that is relevant on this subject,” the head of state said.
Demonstrations for the independence of justice
Thousands of people protested, for five consecutive days, in Bucharest and in other cities in the country, after the publication of the documentary “Captured Justice” made by Recorder regarding the justice system.
