Grindeanu is waiting for the Government's solution for military pensions: “I have a problem here, I hope it doesn't lead to a conflict”

The leader of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, welcomed the decision of the Constitutional Court that validated the Magistrates' Pensions Law, stressing that it brings clarity to an intensely publicly debated subject.

“Obviously, I'm happy. It's a decision that had to be made. But don't ask me to comment more. The judges have decided. I think that today all the conditions have been met for a decision to be made. The Romanians needed it”said Grindeanu, at Digi24.

Regarding military and special pensions, the PSD leader emphasized that a balanced solution must be found. He explained that in the system there is an imbalance between different professional categories.

“An imbalance has been created, I'm talking about the magistrates, where 62% gross is the pension, but in other categories the percentage is higher. I have a problem with the military. It is a problem with those who go on missions or in theaters of war, we also have gendarmes and SPP workers. And here we have to see what the Government's proposal is“, said Grindeanu.

The PSD leader emphasized that he does not consider it normal to retire at such a young age.

“It's abnormal to retire at 50. You can't do that. At 50 you have all the power to work, here things have to go back to normal. There is this imbalance, I hope it doesn't lead to a conflict”, Grindeanu specified.

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced on Wednesday evening that special pensions for these categories will be regulated in March, after the Constitutional Court established the constitutionality of the Magistrates' Pensions Law.
