Gemini, DeepSeek, China. Artificial intelligence dominated the charts for Google searches in 2025

Google published the lists of the most searched terms in 2025, both worldwide and in Romania, and the topics related to AI were many and “caught” leading positions in the rankings.
Gemini, Google's chatbot, was the most searched term globally, while in 6th place in that core chart was DeepSeek, the Chinese chatbot that wowed the world at the start of the year. DeepSeek also grabbed the top 10 searches in the US.
Gemini was awarded the title of “top trending search” for 2025 in online searches.
For Romania, apart from the traditional lists of movies, series, questions or personalities, Google also published a list of searches related to AI, a list from which it follows that Romanians were curious to find out exactly what AI is, which applications are free, what is happening with AI in China, but also what pictures they can create with AI applications:

The searches of 2025 are carried out in several categories, aiming to capture search trends in the year just ending. The lists include “trending” searches, searches that saw a monthly increase of more than 10 times in 2025 compared to 2024. The reference period is January 1, 2025 – December 3, 2025.
